I’m excited to introduce myself as the Upper School Counselor for the 2017-18 school year. This is my 8th year serving as a school counselor in North Carolina. I started my career in Rockford Il as an Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Counselor at a treatment center and then transitioned to a 6th-8th grade self-contained behavior disorder teacher. In 2001, I moved to North Carolina and began teaching middle school social studies. In 2002, I moved to Statesville High School where over the years I taught World History, US History, Psychology, Sociology and Crime and Justice. In 2010, I finally achieved my career goal of becoming a school counselor. I enjoy working with students and helping them achieve their goals.

Outside of work, my time is spent transporting my 4 year old son and 6 year old daughter to their various activities. They keep my husband and I on our toes. My 6 year old will be joining the Pine Lake family as a 1st grader. My 4 year cannot wait to join us next year.

I am very excited to join the Pine Lake family. If I can assist you or your student in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m looking forward a fun and exciting school year! Go Pride!

I’m excited to be joining Pine Lake Preparatory (PLP) for the 2016-2017. Just prior to coming to PLP, I worked as the North Carolina Admissions Regional Recruiter for The University of Alabama.  I was responsible for facilitating the admissions process for western North Carolina prospective students.  My passion is working with students through the higher education search and selection process.  I’ve been a licensed school counselor for seven years, and I have served in a NC public school.  However, the majority of my career has been spent working in a variety of college settings.  First, as Director of Admissions at Sage College of Albany I helped transition the school from a junior college into a four-year institution that specialized in Fine Arts programs.  Later, as the Director of Community College Partnerships for SUNY Empire State College I worked to develop transfer student partnerships between SUNY Empire and all 64 New York State community colleges .

I currently live in the Huntersville area with my husband and son, where we enjoy Alabama football and Syracuse basketball.  I look forward to working with all of the PLP families this year.

To contact me directly, please email me or call (704) 237-5419.
