My child is currently a student at Pine Lake Preparatory. Does this mean their sibling will have a place at PLP next year?
YES. Siblings of currently enrolled students are guaranteed placement in the appropriate grade if that grade is offered and/or space is available in the 2008-2009 school year. The Pine Lake Preparatory Board of Directors will determine what grades will be offered based on the number of applications for each grade level for the coming school year. Their plan is to offer Kindergarten through the Eleventh Grade because the permanent campus, which will open in the fall of 2008 school year, is designed to accommodate Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade.
My child has a sibling that wasn’t old enough to apply to Pine Lake Preparatory for the 2007-2008 school year. Do I have to go on-line and complete the application even though they do not have to participate in the upcoming lottery?
YES. All students are required by North Carolina Charter School law to complete an application for admission.
For the 2007 - 2008 school year, more than one of my children were offered enrollment at Pine Lake Preparatory. However, we placed one or more of our children at Pine Lake Preparatory for the 2007-2008 school year and declined for the other child/children. Is my non-enrolled child/children offered a place for the 2008-2009 school year or do they need to reapply?
Yes. Siblings of currently enrolled students will be offered admission for the 2007-2008 school year without participation in the lottery. However, please remember to submit your application via the website. Please remember that admission is based on space availability. For example, there will be more spaces available in Fourth through Eleventh Grade than there will be in First, Second, and Third Grade due to our 2007-2008 enrollment.
Our older child now wants to attend PLP, but we never filled out an application for him/her before. Is that necessary?
YES. Applications are required for all students, including those that have siblings who are current PLP students.
Will our chances improve if we attend the lottery?
NO. Prospective PLP families are welcomed to attend the lottery but your presence is not required. Families will be notified by mail regarding their lottery number on or before December 8, 2007.
How will I know that my child’s application is on file?
We will use the sibling confirmation form to check against our database. If we do not have an application on record, you will be contacted.
