President

Dorie Mothershed

My name is Dorie Mothershed and I am running for PTO President.  Our family has been a part of the PLP Community for 3 years.  We have a 5th grader & an 8th grader and have had great experiences with the Lower School & Middle School.  We look forward to moving into the Upper School with the upcoming school year.

I joined the PTO as Treasurer two years ago because I wanted to get more involved at our children’s school and thought this would be a good way to meet other families.  Since then, I’ve played an active role on the PTO Board that extends beyond traditional treasury functions. I led the creation of the PTO Pride Store & PTO website, redesigned the PTO financial statements, and set-up PayPal to facilitate online orders.  Working with other PTO volunteers, I’ve been involved in continuing to improve existing and create new PTO events & fundraisers.  These efforts have raised almost $35,000 for PLP during the 2018-19 school year.  This funding has allowed PTO to make several significant contributions to PLP focused on Teacher & Staff appreciation, curriculum tools and other large and small gifts supporting the Lower, Middle and Upper Schools.

Professionally, I am a CPA with experience in public accounting and the banking industry.  I have worked for the past 16 years at BB&T in various finance, audit, marketing and project/ process management roles.

I’m proud of all that the PTO has accomplished over the past 2 years and would appreciate the opportunity to continue building on this foundation.  I want to see the PTO continue to grow into a more sustainable organization with improved communications, greater participation in experiences that bring our community together, a stronger volunteer network and greater funding to support the entire PLP K-12 community.  Thank you for your consideration!

Erin Saye

My name is Erin Saye and I’m running for PTO President.  I have a fifth grader, Quinn and a second grader, Anna.

I have been delighted to serve as the PTO President for the past two years.  There is still more work to be done and I’d like to continue serving the PLP community. My goal is to continue growing the PTO by having parent coffees, new family get togethers, expanding MS events, and supporting Teachers in the classroom.

As a strong, versatile, personable leader, I am hands on at many of our fundraisers and events. I believe that volunteering time is the best way to build a lasting parent, teacher, and student community.  I thoroughly enjoy working with parents, teachers, administrators, and PTO committees to get the job done for the best interest of PLP.

Thank you for your consideration in having me continue to serve as your PTO President.

I look forward to the year ahead!

Vice-President

Nikki Degner

My name is Nikki Degner and I am running for VIce President of PTO.  I have 3 children at Pine Lake and love being a part of such a great school.

I have been on the PTO board the past 2 years and have served as secretary. In this role I have started a monthly PTO newsletter to inform all three schools about events that have happened and upcoming events, along with friendly reminders of all our no cost fundraising opportunities out there. In conjunction with Dorie Mothershed I have been involved in starting the Pride Store one of our biggest undertakings. I have been involved in planning the Mother Son event, and adding more family sporting events for Pine Lake outings. I have also been in charge of the Box Tops program, and was able to re-launch our participation in Coke Rewards.  I have been responsible for the communications and postings for PTO and have worked to help make the PLP community more informed.

I would like to be Vice President to continue to develop the current fundraisers we have started and to add a few more family fun events. I feel that with the right leadership the PTO can become an even greater asset to the school and help to continue to fund large projects and many other needs that PLP has at all 3 schools. I hope to have your continued support.

Kim Kolessar

My name is Kim Kolessar and I am the mom of two PLP boys, Rook (6th grade) and Kai (4th grade), and am also the Co-chair of the PTO’s Used Uniform Committee.  I am running for Vice President of the Pine Lake Prep Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).  I have been a dedicated volunteer in various roles throughout Pine Lake for the past 5 years.  Some of those have included being room mom, copying, distributing lunches, grandparents day, book fair, butterfly release, lost and found, and being the current co-chair of the PTO used uniform committee.

Over the past five years, I have developed relationships with teachers and staff in all three schools.  I am hardworking, dependable, and am always willing to go above and beyond when needed.

In order to increase fundraising, as the current Co-chair of the Used Uniform Committee, I have been instrumental in implementing the online uniform sales. By doing so, we have increased our funds by 45%.

As VP, I will work with all teachers and staff to understand what the school's needs are and how the PTO can help. I will continue to assist in finding creative ways to fundraise so that our school remains successful.

Treasurer

Amanda Skalski

My name is Amanda Skalski, originally from Michigan, but moved to NC in September 2015, after spending 13 years in NYC/NJ.  I hold a Bachelors in Finance from Michigan State University, and worked in finance/accounting positions for Moody's Investors Service and Bloomberg LLP 15 years.

My husband and I value education, and we were overjoyed the day our son's name was called for Pine Lake Preparatory last year.  I love that the community is small enough to be afforded the opportunity to serve in any way possible.  I currently am on the Steering Committee for LNBC MOPs in the Hospitality Position, so I understand the planning and set up that goes on in the background to make for a successful year.  I feel that my prior background, along with my eagerness to help, would make me a legitimate candidate to serve on the PTO Board in the Treasurer role.

Thank you, look forward to meeting you all in the years to come.

Secretary

Bridget Emperador

My family has been a part of Pine Lake Prep for 3 years. We have 4 children who currently attend PLP in 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 12th grades as well as a 5th child who attends a private school. For the last two years I have served as Co-class coordinator for my youngest daughter’s class as well as serving as one of the Varsity Football team moms for the 2017-18 season.

I’m currently the co-chair of the PTO Used Uniform Committee. I created and continue to manage the PTO Facebook account as well as the Used Uniform and Spirit Wear Facebook pages. I’m excited for the opportunity to use my background in Communication and Social Media Marketing in the role of PTO Secretary and I have a strong desire to focus on continuing to grow the Used Uniform online sales as well as the recruitment and management of our amazing parent volunteers.
