What did you want to be when you were growing up?
When I was growing up I struggled with this concept but I had a lot of positive role models (mainly teachers) who pushed me towards a career in the educational field.
Where did you go to college?
I attended Grand Valley State University in Michigan. GVSU prides itself on its first class Division II athletic program.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I spend most of my spare time outdoors. I really enjoy mountain biking and trail running but my favorite outdoor activity is snowboarding.
What is your favorite thing about Pine Lake Prep?
My favorite aspect of PLP is the student body. The students at this institution come eager and excited to learn and we always have a fun time in the classroom!
If you could give students one piece of advice, what would it be?
Make the most out of your opportunities here at PLP. Not all schools have teachers who care about your success at the next level. If you work hard, together we will help you reach your ultimate goal.
Where were you born? Where have you lived most of your life?
I was born in Lansing, Michigan but I spent most of my life in a small town called Plainwell.
How long have you been teaching?
This is my first year as a professional educator however I spent a year of college student teaching.
What's your favorite movie?
Well I really enjoy sports movies and I am also a huge Notre Dame Football fan so I would have to say Rudy. It can be a little corny at times but everyone loves true stories of perseverance.
What was your favorite subject / grade while you were in school?
Well I've always been interested in social studies and political science. I actually studied social studies in college. I've always found it fascinating how different global cultures interact politically and economically.
Who is your favorite author?
I have too many favorites to name just one but I have enjoyed novels by Ken Follet, Frederick Forsyth, and Thomas Harris.
