Having a background check allows parent volunteers to be alone with students without having an Academic Partner present. PLP pays for each of the Classroom Coordinators to have a background check in order for them to better assist in the classroom. Instructions for the background checks for Classroom Coordinators have been sent directly to them.
Other parents have expressed interest in obtaining a background check on their own in order to assist more in the volunteering that they do. Some ways that parents with background checks can assist are: doing lunch duty for the Academic Partner, doing recess duty, driving on field trips, escorting students places, etc. For those interested in obtaining a background check, please follow these procedures:
